Year 4

We understand that every child is unique and learns in their own special way and so we strive to make sure that our teaching meets a range of learning styles, whilst being supportive yet challenging where necessary.

In Year 4, we work hard to create meaningful experiences which helps bring learning to life.  Finding it difficult to imagine the lives of Vikings? No problem, we invite two ‘Vikings’ in each year who bring weapons and games in with them to help us.  Struggling to understand what the Romans did for fun?  We’ve got you; we hold a workshop each year where we make Roman games and learn about the more gruesome aspects of everyday life!  These are just some of our immersive and interactive workshops and events.

Throughout the year, our learning takes us across the world when we learn about oceans, back in time when we learn about ancient civilisations and the Industrial Revolution, we become scientists when we learn about states of matter, digestion, sound and electricity, and we take the time to celebrate our diverse community in RE and PSHE.

We love working with parents and will invite you in many times over the year, whether that is through workshops, joining in with lessons, or to help us with some projects.

A big highlight of the year is our swimming lessons, where we build water confidence, develop strong swimming techniques, and have plenty of fun! We also rise to the challenge of the Multiplication Tables Check, sharpening our number skills with games, songs, and friendly competitions that make learning times tables exciting.

Year 4 is all about teamwork, discovery, and lots of fun which prepares our children brilliantly for the adventures that await in Year 5!
