Our Curriculum
At Hounslow Town Primary School, we strive to nurture pupils who are inquisitive, analytical and eager to explore their learning and the world around them with confidence, resilience and positivity. Our aim is to develop independent learners who are not only passionate about their learning, but are also able to question, investigate, evaluate and make meaningful connections across subjects and to their own lives.
We have designed a curriculum that promotes deep thinking and encourages children to challenge ideas, engage in critical thinking and apply their knowledge in new and exciting ways. Where possible, we embed a thematic approach that enables our children to make connections across the curriculum, master key areas of learning and develop a secure understanding of subject-specific vocabulary and how to use it in different contexts. As a school, we have carefully considered end-of-key-stage expectations and subject-specific guidance, and we ensure that learning is carefully sequenced and broken into small, manageable steps that allow pupils to retain and build on knowledge and understanding over time. Through memorable and engaging lessons, our pupils are inspired to take ownership of their learning, explore real-world issues and make links between the past, present and future. Our curriculum is rich in opportunities for creativity and self-expression, where every child can share, promote and debate their ideas with confidence and clarity. We are committed to ensuring that all learners:
Our curriculum is designed to be accessible and inclusive for all, celebrating the rich diversity of our community in Hounslow and beyond. We incorporate real-life, hands-on experiences that take learning beyond the classroom and into the wider world, making it relevant, exciting and personal to each child. Pupils are encouraged to celebrate their own background, culture and community, helping them to see themselves reflected in what they learn and empower them to enter the next stage of their learning with confidence.
